McGinn chooses Methodist for lacrosse and art
For high school students across the world - especially seniors like Ainsley McGinn - many school activities are on hold in an attempt to stop COVID-19 has made them trying to cope with the new online classes’ schedule while remaining optimistic that they can attempt to have everything just as normal online.
“It's been hard,” McGinn said. “Most of the things I was looking forward to were in the spring term: lacrosse, prom, senior trip, and graduation. Not being able to do these things is really sad.”
Her last lacrosse season in high school is also affected by COVID-19:
“Due to COVID-19, we have no future plans. Before the lockdown and quarantine, I wanted to do captain's practices, but of course, that did not happen.”
College is a tough subject for a lot of seniors. They really wanted to get some closure before heading off on a new chapter of their lives, but it looks like a lot of the events and traditions may not happen. Even so, McGinn already made her college decision. She will be attending Methodist University next year to play DIII lacrosse and major in Studio Art.
“I chose to attend Methodist University to play DIII lacrosse. I will be majoring in Studio Art and I can't wait! I chose Methodist due to Coach Rebbeca Sheinfeld and the program that she is continuing to build. I love what she wants to do and her desire to make us better players. I also fell in love with the art program and I love having the best of both worlds while also being on a relatively small campus. “
Just like many other students at North Cross, McGinn has many different interests. While staying at home has narrowed many options for extracurricular activities, she is still managed to keep up with many of her hobbies.McGinn shared what she loves and will miss the most about this school:
“I love the small aspect of the school,” she said. “I've made so many friends that I'm grateful for. I'll also miss the lacrosse and field hockey team. I'll also miss the senior lounge...it was nice.”
