While enjoying her summer in Texas, a 14-year-old international student panicked to find out she had lost her passport and I-20 after two months. She stayed with her cousins in a small city house in Arlington, Texas.
Nhi, a Vietnamese student from Ho Chi Minh City, already had a year as a student of a boarding school in Dunbar, Wisconsin. In the summer, she flew to Texas and decided to spend the rest of her summer there. She also found a private school called North Cross School located in Roanoke, Virginia. Nhi is attending NCS as a sophomore. “You can do anything well if you try hard enough,” Nhi’s mom said. “Save your tears for something else, tears cannot solve your problems.” Nhi’s mom had always supported and inspired her daughter when she lost her personal information papers. “Don’t try to do everything at once,”Nhi reminds herself, “try to do it one by one.” It is hard for Nhi to know what to do and how to calm herself down. Therefore, she usually gets lost and stressed. Even though she hasn't found her passport yet, that doesn’t stop her from being happy. Soon, she will figure out how to overcome it. “Life is short,” Nhi believes, “so be positive and keep moving forward.”

AuthorI’m Nhi, an international student from Vietnam. I have been in the U.S. for one year but this is my first year at NCS. This picture was taken on the first day I arrived at our dorm. I took this while sitting on the bend in my dorm room. It is the only picture that has my face clearly visible. I was smiling but in fact I was exhausted after the flight and unpacking my stuff. I chose this picture because it is one of my very first memories about the school. I am really looking forward to studying in NCS. ArchivesCategories |
