At only 11 Rabia traveled to South Africa by herself and says that it has been the most memorable thing she has done 
in her entire life. When Rabia was 11 years old she wanted to travel to South Africa to go visit her family there. 

Unfortunately when her parents were planning the trip they told Rabia “If you really want to travel to South Africa you have to pick between two options: go by yourself because it's too expensive for all of us to go, or you don’t go.” 

Stunned by the fact that she might have to travel alone, she was hesitant, but she desperately wanted to go, so she decided to travel by herself and was so happy to have chosen to go because it was an amazing experience.

Ferron was born in Quebec City, Canada and moved to Roanoke, Virginia when she was 2 with her parents and 3-month-old brother.

She attended preschool and kindergarten at New Vista Montessori then moved to Community School where she attended for eight years. She now attends North Cross High School for ninth grade. She says that she is excited to have new opportunities and a safe 
place where she can be herself. 

“Be who you are,” said her mother, Hafsa Ferron, “and don’t change for other people.” 
Rabia believes that North Cross has lots of opportunities to help her pursue her career of becoming a pediatrician.

Apart from school, Rabia’s out of school life is also very busy. She is an older 
sibling to four siblings. Naiel, Aisha, Hamza and Imane, but also the daughter of her two wonderful parents, Hafsa and Antoine. Rabia loves to cook (fettuccine Alfredo, African food), paint (I most definitely plan to get the Fine Arts Distinction by the time I graduate), watch Netflix and have a great time with family.

She explains that she is excited for her ninth grade year at North Cross and hopes to have  successful years back in Canada for college at McGill University and an even more successful career thanks to North Cross and their amazing help and support along the way. To achiever her goals, she gets inspiration from a quote she found in the Readers Digest:

“Don’t hold yourself back and know that you are capable of anything you set your mind to.”
