Jiale Qin '26

Hello everyone, my name is Jiale and I am from China

I think the most interesting thing about me is the origin of my name.
When I was born, my parents hadn't figured out my name and never knew what it was, but my brother was always watching a Happy Planet TV show, so he thought of the name Jiale and named me Jiale. Jia means family, and le means happiness, so Jiaale means family joy and family harmony.
I came to North Cross School in 2021. The reason why I came here is because I like the way of education here, and there is a school in Shanghai, China, so it is also well-known.
The most important thing is that my brother went to college here at Virginia Tech before, and it’s okay to be close enough. We can take care of each other. It must be difficult to go to school alone. and
I also like to play basketball. As a small man, I am not very popular and always looked down upon by opponents, but I don't care. I just work hard and leave the rest to the will of God.
The phrase "Where your body goes, where your heart goes" has always been my motto and has always inspired me. I just need to walk my own path, nothing else, and be myself.

I’m Jiale Qin (the one below), I come from China. This is my second year at North Cross School. I grew up in Beijing, finished elementary and middle school, and came to Roanoke for high school. This photo was taken in the classroom of the school when I graduated from junior high school, because everyone was very happy and also very sad. When taking the graduation photo, the teacher took out the camera. We wanted to make an interesting pose, so we did this one. The picture shows me and Zaiqiao Long, who is in China now, and he will come to the US for college. He was my best friend in middle school, also now. As for the reason for choosing this photo, I think it mainly makes sense to me. My best friend is in China and I am in America. We are so far apart and haven't seen each other for so long, it is inevitable that we will miss each other.
