My Response to the New Yorker article: "Can we get kids off smartphones" by Jessica winter4/23/2024 I do believe that smartphones are dangerous to teenagers. I feel that they can take away critical moments and time away from younger kids. Smartphones are also good for kids so they can communicate and be more in touch with the world. But I do think these devices can set up a bad mindset for the younger generation. I also believe that smartphones are bad for kids because they lower our attention span. Many people watch these 10- to 15-second videos for hours upon hours. It is pretty much useless other than it is an easy escape. Most kids also lose sleep because they mindlessly scroll on their phones to find something to do. “Many teens are aware that smartphones disrupt their sleep, their moods, and their self image.” This quote proves my point that smartphones are a disruption of early life.

William HendricksonBOATING: I love to tube and hang out with my family on this boat. My uncle bought this boat in 2021. We go on a lake trip with my cousins every summer in Pickwick Lake. While riding on this boat, my uncle can store water in the ballast of the boat to make the waves bigger. My uncle can add up to 1,000 pounds of water in the ballast. This boat allows me and my family to do many fun activities. Photo by Patrick O’Hearn. ArchivesCategories |
